Establishing of the International Association of Christian Artists
The establishing of the Association of Christian Artist is important news for all creative christians. Here follows the text of the foundation document of 1990.
- Years ago; in 1980, a seminar week for Christian Artists in Europe was started. Over the years it grew from a music event into a meeting place for people working in every creative field: gospel music, classical music, dance, ballet, drama, visual arts, writing, media, etc. The week became a most exciting week, stimulating, challenging and inspiring week. But something else happened. Besides being a week of study and inspiration,it became an incredible powerhouse for creative renewal-affecting the lives of many throughout the year. So Christian Artists became a movement around 1985/1986! More and more people both inside and outside of Europe wanted to be ‘part of it’. But how should it be structured? I t took a while before the council and the board of Christian Artists Europe found the answer to this question. In 1988 it was time to give the movement a solid structure to bind us all together. January 1, 1990 was a historic day when the International Association of Christian Artists came into being, this allowed the movement to grow further! Many artists, arts-groups became members.
- The future:
When you keep track of the news in the papers you will know that from the nineties on dramatic changes will take place in Europe. That’s another reason why we need an international body that can act and speak on behalf of the thousands of Christian Artists. We don’t want to leave the shaping of the future in the hands of the secular humanists. No, we believe that Christian Artists should play a leading part in our own future.(2005: N.B. looking back, all those changes took place: fall of communism, the rise of the EU to 25 nations, etc)
